Baseball club "Beograd '96"

Baseball club “Beograd ‘96” is founded in 1996( so the origin of the part of the club’s name is understandable). This club has had the best organisation in Serbia and Montenegro ever since, and won four championships of Serbia and three national cups.
Besides regular and usual scores and successes in national, the club is also very successful in European and regional competitions. Taking part in the League of Middle Europe, which we became member of last year, brought us at the sixth place of 11 teams. The final score was 9-9, which is considered a big success.
We have played at three tournaments this year: Going-Austria( third place of 16 teams), Charleroi- Belgium( second place of 6 teams), Ljubljana – Slovenia(fourth place of 6 teams).
Considering European contests, we should emphasize our participation in The Cup of European Champions. We played twice and had remarkable scores (2000. Skofya Loca- Slovenia: seventh place of 12 teams; and 2001. Brno- Chech Republic: fifth place of 12 teams). In 1997, at The Cup of C.E.B- Wienna, we took fifth place in competition of 16 teams . We have also competed at numerous international tournaments, and also won some (2002. Chicken Trophy, Wells, Austria).

…about baseball in this region……. 

Playing baseball is present here since 1988; furthermore, it is rather developed and active. Considering theritories of Formal Yugoslavia, Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia were predominant about this. Unfortunately, Serbian baseball is not as developed as Croatian or Slovenian. During the long break here, this game was improved and invested in in those former Yugoslav republics. We are doing our best to catch up- although we are behind them, it is very possible to make all of these national leagues equal in a few years. The Yugoslav( now Serbian) Baseball Federation was founded in 1996, after the break, which came as the result of all the events at this region. Baseball was played before this, too, but under the vary bad conditions. Joining EBC( European Baseball Confederation) didn’t take much time, and already in February 1997. Yugoslavia joined it, having right of competing in international matches. 
The Yugoslav(Serbia- Montenegro) league consists of six clubs at present; four from Belgrade, one from Novi sad and one from Kragujevac. The league is based on playing by the triple system to enter the play-off. We also have a Cup.
